Jacqueline Aenlle: From Urban to Agriculture

Empower - Create - Educate

Who:

Jacqueline Aenlle was born and raised in California Bay Area-Peninsula. She received her Bachelor of Science in Dairy Science with a minor in Agricultural Business then received her Masters in Agriculture Education with an emphasis in Public Relations from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She is currently attending University of Florida  to earn her Ph.D in Agriculture Education and Communications.

What:

From Urban to Agriculture is a platform that works to connect curious consumers with agriculture professionals to learn more about food, agriculture, environmental science, and natural resources.

"It is my hope to empower you to learn more about this industry, and to provide the space for you to do so." -Jacqueline Aenlle

Her Mission:

As a scientist and curious consumer, I aim to provide adult, urban and suburban consumers with an opportunity to ask questions about food, agriculture, natural resources, and human sciences to subject matter experts. Learning is not restricted to a formal classroom. By listening and interacting with this educational, science-based podcast, lifelong learners can continue to increase their science literacy and make well-informed decisions on future science issues.

New Media:

Jacqueline uses Instagram, Facebook, podcasts, and her website to engage with her followers and connect with curious consumers. Her latest podcast is about the science behind cultivated meat. And the episode before that was about graduate school and what to expect. She interview professionals to hear what they have to say on the specific podcast topic. Jacqueline takes real life questions and concerns that she knows her listeners and followers could be wondering about.

Every once in a while Jacqueline will post a question on her instagram where she asks people to comment and leave their answer. Such as this one where she asks her audience "What is a misconception about ag that you hear often?"

I was fortunate enough to do a zoom call with Jacqueline where I was able to ask her questions I had about graduate school at Cal Poly. It was so nice getting to know her and hearing about her experience in the Agriculture Education Masters program here at Cal Poly. I think what she has made for herself is awesome and it is inspiring for Agriculture Communications students like myself to see what I can do for a career in this field.
