Have you ever seen the Blue Diamond brand in your local grocery store? More than likely you have seen the blue and deep orange logo while you are walking the isles of your local grocery store either in the refrigerated section with their non dairy almond milk products or in the snack section with their wide variety of flavorful almonds snacks.
Blue Diamond's Story
Blue Diamond or as once known as "The Exchange" dates back as far as in the late 1900s to the early 20th century. They would become one of the largest packing plants and nut processor in the world. The reason why they chose the to have a diamond as their logo was to make their brand stand out because they have always had high standards for their quality products. By the late 1980s the company changed its name from The Exchange, to its now globally known name of Blue Diamond. You can read more here on Blue Diamond's history.

A Labor of Love
California is well known for its beautiful Mediterranean climate, which is the ideal growing conditions for almonds and other tree crops. There are only 7,600 almond growers in California producing over 80% of the world's almonds. In the 2020 growing season, the Almond Board had forecasted the largest almond crop ever, totaling over 3 billion pounds. You can read more on the statistics on almonds and their 2025 sustainability project from the California Almond Board's 2019 almanac.
Did you know, Blue Diamond is comprised of over 3,000 growers in California's Central Valley? Most of these farms are family owned and operated, and many of these farms are generational that have been passed down. Often, these family farms are only on average under 100 acres and produce over a billion pounds of almonds per year. I know a lot of people would be shocked at these statistics.
This company does a great job at capturing the grower's and their family's farm. The agricultural industry as a whole is trying to show and capture the amount of love that is spent in growing these tree crops. By connecting with the consumers through social media, they can convey the whole truth and the faces behind their products. Consumers often have a misconception about agriculture and it is cool that this company is really trying to showcase the people behind their products. This is what attracted me the most to this company because of how they treat their growers and the connections they are trying to make with their consumers. Thus bridging the gap of understanding between the farmers and consumers.
Healthy Living Promoted On Instagram
In the 21st Century, nut crops are a staple in a healthy diet. The most popular diets like Keto or Whole 30 often explain that having a snack that is full of protein (like almonds) is beneficial to satisfying hunger cravings. Many consumers are opting for a vegan or vegetarian diet these days. There are more new products on the market today than there was over five years ago, especially with products such as Beyond Meat burgers. The reason why I mention the Beyond Meat burgers was due to an almond burger recipe I saw on Blue Diamond's Instagram page.
Since consumers are trending towards diets that are whole and packed with protein, almonds are the perfect healthy snacking option. Blue Diamond's Instagram is all that and then some!
Often their social media contains delicious recipes that can be followed through their professional videos, as well as the different products that they create. This company is great with connecting to their followers due from some of the campaigns they have done in the past; not to mention they also use their consumers and followers tweets and repost them back onto their own page. It is so neat that they do this. They are making healthy living fun and colorful by engaging with their followers through the most fun captions and their posts which makes this very personable. Not to mention they will also do seasonal products and recipes as well.

Here is one funny example that they have used on their Habanero BBQ flavored almonds, in order to get a better engagement with their followers; this is directly from their Instagram. |
